What to Expect After Buying a Cluster Mailbox
Cluster mailboxes offer safety, efficiency, and convenience to the mail delivery process. These standalone mailbox structures allow tenants, residents, or employees to access their mail in a centralized location with a mailbox key, preventing mail theft and streamlining your mail service.
If you're considering purchasing USPS cluster mailbox units for your apartment complexes or company, you may be searching for more details about these systems. Read ahead to learn what you can expect after buying a cluster mailbox through our site.

CBU Design and Finish
We offer cluster box units in a wide range of colors and designs to suit your community's curb appeal. Sandstone is our most popular color, but we also offer boxes in black, bronze, green, and gray powder-coated finishes. You can choose from CBUs with four to sixteen mailboxes per cluster box, and each system includes one or two larger parcel lockers at the bottom of the structure where residents can access oversized packages.
The United States Postal Service (USPS) must approve cluster boxes for use. At LowPrice Cluster Mailboxes, we sell USPS-approved CBUs featuring a durable powder-coated finish that is weather- and corrosion-resistant, ensuring that your mailboxes will stand up to rain, snow, and wind without damage.
CBU Installation Process
When you order a cluster box unit (CBU) on our LowPrice Cluster Mailboxes site, we will ship it directly to your address. Once you receive your mailbox, you can install the structure on your property with minimal tools in a few easy steps.
First, you will need to secure a USPS-approved location for your community mailboxes. You'll also need to pour a concrete pad upon which to install your cluster box to optimize security and durability. Next, you will drill holes into the concrete and position the pedestal unit over the holes, using anchor bolts to secure the pedestal. You'll then screw the mailboxes onto the pedestal.

How Carriers Deliver Mail To Cluster Mailboxes
USPS-approved community boxes make it easy for letter carriers to deliver parcels to multiple tenants, residents, or employees at one time. Here's the process that most local USPS carriers follow to deliver letters, small packages, and large parcels to cluster boxes.
Letters and Small Parcels
After you have installed cluster boxes on your property, your mail carrier will add USPS Arrow locks to the master panel door. These locks give the post office access to every mail slot at one time, streamlining the delivery process.
Your post office carrier will place letters and small parcels in each resident's designated mailbox, allowing tenants to retrieve the mail at their convenience.
Large Parcels
USPS-approved cluster boxes come with one or two larger parcel lockers near each unit's base in which mail carriers will place boxes or oversized packages. If a tenant receives a large package, the mail carrier will set it in one of these lockers and put a key in the recipient's mailbox. The recipient can use the key to access the parcel locker, retrieve their package, and then leave the key for the mail carrier.
How Tenants Receive and Send Mail With Cluster Boxes
After installing your USPS cluster mailbox box unit, you, as the property manager, will distribute unique compartment keys to each tenant in your community. Tenants can identify their personal boxes through an engraved number or adhesive placard located on the front of each mailbox door.
To retrieve their mail, tenants will insert their key into the key slot on their mailbox's left edge. Turning the key and pulling outward will pop the door slot open, allowing tenants to access the mail within their box. If tenants see a key in their box, they will know to use the parcel locker key to open one of the larger parcel lockers at the base of the CBU.
Tenants can also send outgoing mail with a CBU. Every cluster unit includes a convenient, locked outgoing mail slot in which residents can place standard mail. These outgoing slots feature an aluminum comb on their interior that prevents mail fishing, ensuring that residents' outgoing items are secure.
Property Owner Responsibilities for CBUs
Property managers or landlords have a few responsibilities regarding your USPS mailboxes.
First, you will be in charge of installing your USPS-approved mailbox structure. Many property owners outsource installations to ensure that they meet USPS regulations. Whether you decide to install your mailbox yourself or hire a contractor to complete the installation, it will be your responsibility to ensure that the structures adhere to USPS standards for location and build.
According to USPS regulations, property owners are also in charge of repairing their community's mailboxes. If you notice any damage, malfunctioning locks, or structural issues, you will be responsible for fixing these problems. The postal service may not deliver parcels to the cluster until it is back to working order.
Finally, you are responsible for delivering mailbox keys to your tenants and ensuring that new tenants know which mailbox is theirs.
Commercial Mailboxes
Along with our residential cluster systems, at LowPrice Cluster Mailboxes, we also offer various commercial cluster mailboxes that are perfect for your small business or large company. These mailboxes allow your employees to receive or send mail within the company and across the United States.
Many businesses install several cluster boxes in a centralized location so that employees can easily pick up their mail on the way in or out of work. These systems follow the same installation process as our residential mailboxes, so installing several will take only a few hours.
Cluster boxes are safer than traditional roadside mailboxes because they only allow employees who have a key to access their mail. And because each employee has their own key, you will not have to worry about letters getting mixed up between departments.
